Man arrested in pharmacy robberies
25-Dec-2007: Authorities have nabbed a man they believe is responsible for a string of pharmacy robberies in the northwestern suburbs.
Coon Rapids police arrested Jerry Lee Herbek after they spotted him driving a vehicle that matched the description of one seen leaving a CVS Pharmacy in Andover that had been robbed early Monday, said Coon Rapids Deputy Police Chief Tim Snell.
Officers searched the suspect's vehicle and found a replica handgun and evidence linking the suspect to the robbery, Snell said.
Herbek, 32, was charged Wednesday with first-degree armed robbery, according to a complaint filed in Anoka County District Court. He was being held in the Anoka County jail. Bail was set at $25,000, said Andrew Johnson of the Anoka County attorney's office.
On Tuesday, authorities searched the suspect's Brooklyn Center home and found evidence related to hold-ups at the Hanson Drug Pharmacy on Sept. 24, a CVS Pharmacy in Coon Rapids on Nov. 25 and a heist at a CVS Pharmacy in Fridley on Dec. 15.
